Nascida em Glossop, Inglaterra, em 1952, Hilary Mantel publicou catorze livros, incluindo o romance A PLACE OF GREATER SAFETY e as memórias GIVING UP THE GHOST. O ESPELHO E A LUZ é o terceiro e último volume de sua trilogia sobre Thomas Cromwell. Os volumes anteriores, WOLF HALL e TRAGAM OS CORPOS, receberam o Booker Prize. Hilary Mantel faleceu em 2022, em Exeter, Inglaterra.
